Microsoft Office 2007
Converting An Older Document To 2007 Format
Office 2007 does a pretty good job of being backward compatible with documents you’ve created in all previous versions of Office. However, some older documents just don’t seem to appear the way you created them or they print funny.
Office offers a “convert” feature that will convert documents created in versions 1997-2003 to the new 2007 format.
WARNING: Before attempting the steps below, make a backup copy of any file you are wanting to convert. Converting a file will replace your original with the new, converted version. You should save a backup copy of your original version just in case you need to go back to using it for some reason.
Step 1: Click the office button (the Windows logo in the upper left corner of the screen) then click “Convert”.

Step 2: If the following dialog box appears, click “OK”.

Step 3: Save the document. Once you save the document, it will automatically save in 2007 format. I recommend closing out of Word and reopening your document at this point to make sure it worked.
